I think those few are starting to warm up though ;)Cherie Cayemberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00748187506552981093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7849506599116665235.post-73221749064478636082011-05-23T20:23:39.747-05:002011-05-23T20:23:39.747-05:00Great post.

I wrote about my experience of "Joning up" in a recent post: http://geniaus.blogspot.com/2011/05/joining-up.htmlGeniAushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09074874999181040071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7849506599116665235.post-53803927410200607942011-05-23T18:07:19.864-05:002011-05-23T18:07:19.864-05:00Ditto. Now we have lunch every Tuesday...and have for about 25 years. We seldome miss. Now where else can you find friends like that these days? Besides, only another genealogist understands the "genealogy bug."Rita A.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00409173179296954621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7849506599116665235.post-17962674247616192302011-05-23T15:33:47.046-05:002011-05-23T15:33:47.046-05:00I agree, too! I joined my local Londonderry, New Hampshire historical society even though I don't have family here (they came from nearby in Rockingham County, but no local roots). I learned so much about colonial New England that was useful, that I started my own blog and eventually found enough in common between the local people and my own ancestors that I added that into my blog, too. Later I found local people who married distant cousins, including the settlers on the land where I know live! There are lots of chances to help other people with their roots, and by volunteering I've sharpened my own research skills. It was a good move I've never regretted!Heather Wilkinson Rojohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17704949156266722016noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7849506599116665235.post-43127832794887316592011-05-23T13:57:05.084-05:002011-05-23T13:57:05.084-05:00Great post, and absolutely on target!Great post, and absolutely on target!GrannyPamhttp://www.warrenweb.info/genealogynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7849506599116665235.post-25616745518950202242011-05-23T13:16:48.577-05:002011-05-23T13:16:48.577-05:00I couldn't agree more, Amy. But I now live in the Scottish Borders, abnd although I have no ancestry connections here, I joined the Borders Family History Society many years ago, because I thought I could meet fellow enthusiasts and learn a lot about researching.ScotSuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01412874349376253984noreply@blogger.com
