Land and Property Deed Class in Richmond, Texas, February 11, 2014

Land and property deed records can be valuable tools for family-history researchers. Learn how to use those records at a special program, “Find Your Ancestors in Land-Grant Records,” on Tuesday, February 11, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab at GeorgeMemorial Library, 1001 Golfview in Richmond.

Library staff from the Genealogy and Local History Department at Fort Bend County Libraries will review the various types of land and property deed records that are available online, on microfilm at the library, or that are filed at the courthouse. Land-grant records may include genealogical information that is not available through other sources, or that may confirm uncertain information, such as names of spouses, children and their spouses, or neighbors. In this class, learn about the land-grant process, categories of land-entry files, and how to obtain copies of these records.

The program is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required.
