Here's a map of 2010 Census participation rates. Take 10 Map - 2010 Census Participation Rates.
How is your ZIP code doing? Mine is at 14%, with 9% county participation (Harris) and 8% city participation. Ouch.
I did my genealogical duty and mailed my 2010 census form out today. Will anyone want to look me up in 2082 when (it is presumed) this information will be released to the public? Probably not, but they'll know where to find me.
As one who cannot forsee the future, I am waiting until April 2nd.
ReplyDeleteMy little neck of the woods is at 26% well above the national average of 20%. But it is the land of bleeding hearts so . . .
ReplyDelete33% here in my suburb of Milwaukee. Woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteThat is really fun to look at. Thanks for sharing with us!
ReplyDeleteI finally was able to reassure my mother that she would not be arrested if she sent hers back now and something changed between now and April 1st. My husband didn't want to send ours back until April 1st in case one of the kids moves back home. I think a lot of people are just hanging on to it until after the 1st.
ReplyDeleteI looked at the Top Places... isn't it odd that the majority are in Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota? Did theirs arrive first... or is it just so cold and dull up there that the folks see it as a diversion? Maybe they are all very responsible citizens, unlike us laid back surfer dude Californians :>)
ReplyDeleteMy zip code is 44%!! In 2000, it was 90%. The community is well educated and understands how money flows. I made a copy of mine and sent it back.
ReplyDelete41% for my little corner of Ohio. Already mailed mine back....not much info in the 2010 census for genealogists of the future.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to get it done as soon as it arrived, but cannot bring myself to do so before April 1st. No way of knowing for sure who is living in my household on that date until it arrives.
ReplyDeleteThis census I put my maiden name as well as my married. I wonder if in the future some descendant will find the answer to some question.
ReplyDeleteMy county is at 30%. Frankly, that surprises me. I thought it would be less.
ReplyDeleteThe 2010 census is genealogically wimpy.
I already sent mine back, so I had to just guess at the names of people who may be living in my house on 01 APR. I went ahead and guessed on the other info. Why should I make it easy for my descendants to find me?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the interesting link, Amy. It's the morning of April 1, and Michigan stands at 57%, my town (a suburb of Detroit) at 58%, and my county at 64%. Detroit is at 37%. Are Detroiters just recalcitrant or have they all left?
