Quick Update

Hooray for small miracles. I was able to work on my own genealogy for a bit this weekend. And I mean a bit. Like two hours.

I've gone back to my RootsMagic database. I'm going alphabetically down the list of everyone in the database and updating their profiles if I've found new records.

The process is slow going. I'm on the "B" names right now, but I found some new info on the Alston family so technically I'm going backwards.

Pretty soon I'll have to start prepping for FGS 2013 and my trip to Allen County Public Library. Details on that to follow.

  1. I have Alstons on my mother's side who came from Scotland to Pittsburgh in the mid-19th century. Where were your Alstons from?

    1. Elizabeth, the Alstons married into my Williamsons, so it is not a direct line for me.

Ranson/Ransom Tom Alston married Sarah/Sally Williamson in 1839. They resided in Franklin County, Arkansas and had many children there. Do you have any Alstons in Arkansas? Long shot, I'm sure.

    2. No, the only Alstons I have are those who arrived in 1835 in Pittsburgh. But thanks for checking ;-)

  2. It's so nice to have time to work on our own family tree. My blessings are with you as your prepare for trips and conferences. I hope you'll find more time to work on your own line. Remember, slow and steady wins the race!

    1. Thanks, Devon. Slow and steady, indeed. I only have time an hour here or there, but I have to keep reminding myself that those little hours add up.
